This Privacy Policy describes how Shepherd Veterinary Solutions, LLC (“Shepherd”) processes personal information in connection with its veterinary practice management platform (“PIMS” or the “Services”).
This Privacy Policy applies to information processed in connection with the Services and does not apply to Shepherd’s public-facing website, which is governed by a separate privacy policy.
Role of the Parties. Shepherd provides the Services to veterinary practices and processes personal information on behalf of its Clients. Client is the controller (or “business”) of Client Data, and Shepherd acts as a processor (or “service provider”). Client is solely responsible for the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information within
Information We Process. In the 12 months preceding the “Last Updated” date, Shepherd has processed the following categories of personal information in connection with the Services:
Identifiers (e.g., name, email address, phone number, IP address)
Commercial Information (e.g., services used, transaction records)
Internet or Network Activity Information (e.g., usage data, system interactions)
Professional Information (e.g., practice or business contact information)
Shepherd processes this information:
directly from Client and authorized users
automatically through use of the Services
from integrated service providers (e.g., payment processors)
Shepherd does not intentionally collect biometric information, precise geolocation data, or other categories of sensitive personal information except as necessary to provide the Services and as directed by Client.
Purpose of Processing. Shepherd processes personal information solely to:
provide, operate, and maintain the Services
authenticate users and manage accounts
process transactions and support payment functionality
provide customer support
ensure system security and integrity
improve and enhance the Services
Shepherd does not use Client Data to market to Client’s customers.
Sale or Sharing of Personal Information. Shepherd does not sell personal information. Shepherd does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Shepherd may transmit personal information to third-party services at Client’s direction where Client enables integrations or uses Third-Party Services in connection with the Services. Such third-party services operate independently from Shepherd and are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. The Services may include links, widgets, or embedded third-party content. Shepherd does not transmit personal information to such third parties unless and until an individual interacts with such content.
Disclosure of Personal Information. Shepherd may disclose personal information to:
service providers and subprocessors supporting the Services (e.g., hosting, payment processing)

Shepherd does not disclose personal information to third parties for independent marketing purposes.

Certain U.S. state laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), provide individuals with specific rights regarding their personal information. Where Shepherd processes personal information on behalf of a Client, individuals should direct privacy rights requests to the applicable Client (e.g., the veterinary practice). Shepherd will reasonably assist Clients in responding to such requests where required by law.

How to Exercise Your Rights. Shepherd does not independently control Client Data and therefore cannot fulfill certain requests directly. Shepherd will, upon request, assist Client in responding to verified requests as required by applicable law.
