1. Simplified billing process for multi-location practices
If you own or manage multiple practice locations, you and your team will appreciate the convenience of our Multi-Location platform, which supports generating and sending group statements. Save time by creating combined statements for clients with outstanding balances at multiple locations.
Whether you share a client database or have separate databases for each location, you can easily review and transmit statements, enhancing the client experience and administrative efficiency. Our new feature includes the option to print or email your statements, and you can even include a custom message for your clients.

2. Streamline appointment management with our new Schedule Template
Shepherd’s new Schedule Template feature provides appointment scheduling guidance and improves the management of rotating doctor availability. You can predefine provider unavailability and appointment type blocks, which are then shown over the main appointment calendar. This assists in preferred scheduling practices and leads to better time management and patient care.
The Schedule Template feature also works for practices that utilize direct booking through the Shepherd pet portal. Clients who request an appointment of a particular type will only be offered appointment availability that aligns with your predefined schedule template.
3. Save money for your practice by offsetting credit card transaction fees
Good news for Shepherd Pay users! Our integrated payment processor now supports assessing a surcharge fee of 3% for all credit card payment transactions. Surcharge fees are only activated by request and will then be automatically applied during payment processing - helping you recover those pesky credit card transaction costs and improve financial management! This feature does not apply to debit card transactions.
4. Make your voice heard with our new Product Roadmap Portal
Have feedback on your practice management software experience? Eager to pitch an idea for a new feature you’d love to see? With Shepherd, you can share it directly with our product team without leaving your software!
Shepherd’s Product Roadmap has categories for planned developments, changes under consideration, and recently released items in case you missed our release notes. You can comment on specific roadmap feature cards or submit new suggestions – giving you the ability to influence future developments and stay informed about upcoming features.
For current users, simply select your username in the lower left-hand corner of any page, then click on Feature Ideas. That’s it! You’re now officially in the know.
5. Streamline tax management with our advanced Tax Rates feature
Do your regulatory agencies require you to assess different tax rates by product? Then, you’ll love Shepherd’s advanced Tax Rates feature, which lets you assign multiple tax rates to individual products. It’s easy to use, with custom fields for state and city taxes. You’ll not only meet regulatory requirements but also ensure accurate and efficient tax management tailored to each product, in addition to tax assessments that are already included by clinic address or client zip code.
